I said YES to the dress! Now what?
Do I need alterations?
Most bridal gowns are designed and made to order for a range of set sizes, which is why many dresses need alterations to ensure it fits perfectly on your wedding day.
How much do bridal alterations cost?
The cost of bridal alterations depends on the type of alterations required (level of difficulty, sizing differences, design of the dress, any materials, time, and labour required). We believe in fair and reasonable pricing, please contact us for a consultation and we can provide an estimate.
When should I inquire LUSH BY ANU about alterations and when are the pinning appointments?
We recommend contacting us shortly after ordering your dress. We often schedule pinning appointments about 2-3 months prior to the wedding day, which allows us to adjust for any physical body changes (weddings can be stressful and lead to gained or lost weight), as well as allow time to complete high-quality alterations.
How do I secure my alterations service and what is the payment process?
After a consultation and receiving an estimate, to secure your service, we require a 50% deposit upon booking. At the 2nd appointment, we require the remaining balance to be paid.
How long do alterations take?
The length of time needed to complete alterations depends on the type of alterations needed and the season (how busy we are). We will always do our best to meet your timeline and can take urgent orders.
How many appointments will it require?
This depends on the services required. On average, clients need 2-3 appointments. Appointments are required and included in the service cost.
How do I prepare for my appointment?
Please bring your dress, shoes (the exact shoes you will wear are necessary for the hemming and bustle pinning), and undergarments. You are welcome to bring your wedding accessories, veil, and style your hair as planned to help us envision your wedding day look.
How do I store my wedding gown?
Once you have picked up your gown, choose a space which is safe, well-ventilated, odour and moisture free, and has no direct sunlight, to store your dress (eg. an interior closet). Hang your dress to avoid creases and to allow air flow. Use the interior ribbons designed for hanging to avoid stretching delicate straps. Keep it in a garment bag, or a cotton muslin bag to avoid dust collection and discolouration. Be careful not to get parts of the dress caught in the zipper of the garment bag.
How do I store my veil?
Gently and carefully fold and store your veil in the protective bag it came with, or a clean acid-free box surrounded with tissue paper. Keeping your veil in the same space as your dress (described above) is ideal.
I am expecting a baby! Advice for Mother-to-be brides?
I am pregnant / I expect to be pregnant at the wedding and need alterations, how do I book with you?
How exciting! If you are pregnant or expect to be pregnant at your wedding, please contact us at least 2-3 months in advance so we can secure the service time prior to your wedding. Due to rapid body changes during pregnancy, we will schedule your fitting appointment 2-3 weeks prior to the wedding.
